This Week’s Mystery Case & Wine Club Picks!

Greetings and good late-Thursday afternoon everyone!
It’s April 20th and I hope no one is staying home acting like they are in college again. But if you are, I hope you will look around and suddenly realize that YES! you. need. wine.
Cause after all, that’s why we type these things–for we are your sanity-keepers through our liquid distribution methods.
So for today, check out what’s available in our ALWAYS-TOO-GOOD-TO-BE-TRUE $90 Mystery Case.
Then, after you “make like you are in college” a little more, scroll on down and read about the latest release from K Vintners—the 2013 “GUIDO” Sangiovese for a very unique bottling of Washington goodness!
As for This Week’s $90 Mystery Case, here’s a few of Mrs. Jennifer’s favorite French treats available within…
The Chateau de Campuget Rose (normal retail $10) from France’s Costieres de Nimes is a rose petal-pink blend of 70% Syrah & 30% Grenache! This floral beauty shows balanced notes of strawberries, raspberries and red currants with thirst-quenching acidity.
Also bright and refreshing is the Domaine La Taste Colombard/Ugni-Blanc (normal retail $12) from Southern France. This is a staff go-to when it starts heating up outside! Vibrant minerality extends through flavors of stone fruit, lime zest and gentle honey in the finish. If you are in need of a porch pounder, this is a must-have for this week’s Mystery Case!

Your Five Picks are…

a first timer from

Charles Smith/K Vintners

is “Guido”?!?

K Vintner’s “Guido” Sangiovese
2013 Washington, Walla Walla Valley, Jack’s Vineyard
If you are a fan of Washington State wines  then you’ve definitely heard the name Charles Smith. And if you haven’t, whether you realize it or not, you have probably seen his wines and their iconic black & white labels! Smith’s wines range in price from $9 a bottle to three digits. Each tells a story. Each means something to him and his team of very talented Winemakers. And when a new Charles Smith/K Vintners wine comes around, we are almost always drawn to it.
And thus, we are here to introduce one of Smith’s most unique bottlings.
The quirky, 100% Washington State “Guido” Sangiovese!
GUIDO is a bold, full-bodied interpretation of this classic Italian varietal. Bold notes of brandied cherries, pipe tobacco, tomato-ey herbs, toasted fennel and gentle spicing take over your palate
and leave you craving glass after glass!
Rated 92 points by Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate –
“The medium-ruby colored 2013 Sangiovese Guido comes all from Jack’s Vineyard in the Rocks region of Walla Walla, It has juicy acidity and an elegant, medium to full-bodied style, as well as lots of kirsch and cherry fruit characteristics, spring and spice. It shines on its purity and finesse, and should keep nicely through 2023.”
average retail is $49 a bottle
